Nadira Bayat has over 20 years professional experience and academic qualifications in the area of politics, global economic governance, diplomacy, corporate governance and international law. She has both international, regional and public sector expertise, having worked at the United Nations (UN) International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR), UN Transitional Administration for East Timor (UNTAET), International Court of Justice (ICJ); and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR). Ms Bayat has served as Counsellor for Multilateral Affairs at the South African Embassy in Washington, DC and as Director for Special Projects in the Office of the South African Minister of Finance. She currently holds the position of Programme Director at Global Economic Governance (GEG) Africa.
Ms Bayat has a LL.M. in International Legal Studies from American University: Washington College of Law as well as a LL.M. in Comparative and European Law from the University of Maastricht. She also holds a LLB and BA (Law) from the University of Durban Westville.
