Francois van Jaarsveld completed his B Soc. Sci. (Psychology) and Anthropology (Honours) degrees at the University of Pretoria (UP). He was then employed by the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation as a fieldworker on a Rape Attrition Study. In January 2007, Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre employed him as a fieldworker. He was tasked with gathering information for the Rape Attrition Study from various Police Stations and Courts around Gauteng. From August 2007 to December 2007, he worked on a project in Bushbuckridge that focused on domestic violence. In January 2008, he coded and cleaned data from both the Rape Attrition Study and domestic violence study. In March 2008 he conducted interviews in Bushbuckridge with the SAPS and court personnel. He is co-author with Lisa Vetten of “The (Mis)Measure of Harm: An Analysis of Rape Sentences Handed Down in the Regional and High Courts of Gauteng Province” (2008) . Contact him
